ReplyDeleteThe whole scene with Igraine was intriguing too. It seems that she wanted to get close to Arthur to gain something (social promotion most likely), but still her feelings for him feels genuine to me. I wonder what exactly happened back that nobody in Fellulah want to associate with her and how are Nox and Jules related to it. Anyway I like the contrast between her and Orthez.
I'm dying to know what exactly Igraine did in the past and why everyone in Felluah hate her now too >.< From what we had, she was a commoner girl who had nothing, Felluah people would not be happy if she got married to Arthur. So maybe she felt being looked down on? She agreed on being the King's mistress to gain things so she'd not be like a 'beggar' anymore? Something like that... I wonder what's in the letter she sent Arthur? Her reason for leaving him I suppose. And the "love" word she never said before... seems genuine to me too ;_;

she chased after nox after he said that she will have no place to go to (because queen mona is supposedly pregnant). she's saying "is there really no place for me to go to? The countess of felluah (orthez) is generous [as in Orthez will take igraine in, if igraine loses her place]".

ReplyDeleteFeels like something catastrophic will happen next. I think Igraine isn't really a bad person, she just made bad decisions. But I don't like her trying to get Arthur's attention whenever she gets the chance (>_<;;
Hmm I don't think I'll blame her, you know, they're living in an era when marriage doesn't equal love nor fidelity. She doesn't think Arthur and Orthez are in love (that's true, they aren't yet), she still has feelings for Arthur, so she tries. Understandable.

DeleteI don't think that Nox loves Igraine. He just means that he would marry her when she couldn't get married to Arthur (social status gap or whatever reason). Sounds like he doing it to help out a friend/sister, not because of special feelings. I wonder what he thinks about Orthez too. Let's wait for vol.7 then ^^

Arthur and Orthez come to the Palace, Prince Paris and Igraine wait to see them, Orthez's so annoyed with Paris (or she knows Igraine's intention) that she takes Arthur with her to hide in a room lol. Let's wait for the next part to see Arthur's feelings towards the 2 girls then^^

Deletewaah i didn't checked first and you had new posts, thank you so much Pual and Jessie, you guys are awesome. i just curious with Igraine, from story telling, i thought first Igraine reject Arthur's proposal because she will have (or already had?) an affair with the king even when both of them actually love each other but reading this chapter, made me thinking, is it true Igraine love Arthur? is she just like him as a childhood friend? if my memory is right, in the flash back, it just Arthur said "our kids will be loved by everyone", it just Igraine never state anything to Arthur as she loves him?
ReplyDeletei got that perspective because in this chapter Igraine said that she never abandon (Felluah?) so it just Arthur and everyone in the Felluah castle thought Arthur and Igraine will get marry while the truth is Igraine never love Arthur. I mean if you love someone, you will do anything to make your partner's happiness but it will be different story if you didn't love him/her. maybe igraine was consider to marry Arthur based on her likeness to Arthur but she thought it will never quite enough to help her face any social problem since her position and background is not that good. (now it seems like the plot from historical romance novel not the plot that KYJ usually did LOL)
that's why she choose to reject arthur's proposal but she never intend to leave Felluah but people just hate her because of her rejection and her choice to be king's mistress. what do you think about this cheesy plot Jessie? XD
about Nox, since he just appeared for 2 scenes now, i need more before decide to like him or not but for now, my feeling toward him more to dislike, hahaha i'm such a dedicated shipper of ArthurxOrthez. ah i'm curious about why did you LOL when you read about Nox as the most handsome man in Felluah?
At first I thought that was Igraine who said "everyone would love our kid", but now I'm not sure anymore. It sounds so nice that Igraine, a realistic girl who knows her position, just couldn't say so. So maybe the one who said it was Arthur? Like he said: "I thought it'd work out because I'm a Lord" and "it was a delusion", he was kind of a daydreamer about love and happiness right. So yes, it'd make more sense if that was him.
DeleteIgraine's feelings for Arthur is an interesting matter!! I was surprised too when reading the part of Igraine never said the word "love" to Arthur before. I think of 2 cases, one is that she did love Arthur, but she knew her position, knew that it'd never work out well, so she restrained her relationship to Arthur; like not to give them false hope (unlike Arthur who had so much hope, ahh my heart's breaking...); or another one is like you said, she liked him, but not loved him as much as he to her, combined with her low social status, she rejected him to find a better way. Yea this one does sound like a cheesy plot of typical shoujo, not KYJ's '_'
She thought "I didn't even abandon it", my guess is that she didn't want to, but she had no choice. Because no one could stand against the King right (the man in her bed at that scene is the King, not her husband, *hint hint* :p). If she said no to the King and married Arthur, my~ the King would destroy Arthur and Felluah in a blink.
But the biggest prob I have right now is Felluah people's attitude to Igraine. Arthur said "no one would be happy about it (if he married Igraine)". So it means they didn't like her relationship with Arthur. Yet now they hate her anyway when she left Arthur and found another husband. What do they want really?? They want her to stay at her position and marry a non-noble guy, not climb up the social ladder? (Orthez said "it's like meeting again a former classmate who now is doing better than you in life?", again hint...) Sounds jealous and stupid =_= So I think perhaps she also did another thing in the past that made everyone hate her and things aren't simple like what we're seeing, hmm... What do you think about that possibility? xD
About Nox, lol, I laughed because the first images of him were an ugly beggar, when ppl keep saying he's the most handsome man in Felluah, the author was trolling us Lol. I'm holding my opinion about him too, need more... But so far I like the type of a wanderer who just cares about himself first LOL.
hi Jess, about my cheesy theory, i will take it back. i must confess my sin, i didn't read PI as detail as Nabi so i think i missed a lot things that make me think such an impossible story line from KYJ LOL. after re-reading PI again this weekend, i fully agree with you about Igraine must love Arthur but she had to choose the King or otherwise the King will isolate Felluah.
Deletei think what made people at Felluah hate her because she choose to be a mistress while she got married to another old noble (i believe at the era of Orthez's living, women must obey only to her husband and things like affair is really shameful not only to her family but to her hometown, i've read a lot of historical romance novels, so i think this is a really good reason for people hating her). like you and Orthez said, it's hard to see former classmate doing better than you, especially if the former classmate is at lower position than yours. so i think these two things are quite enough for the nobles of Felluah to badmouth Igraine. maybe there is another events that make people hate on her more but i think we still don't see any tiny hint that tell us that right? normally KYJ will give us little hints for a lot of her next plots at the beginning so i just wondering, maybe there is no other events, it just people's jealousy is really ugly to see.
I read almost every novels by Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Judith McNaught etc... too :p And yes, I always hate how hypocritical ppl could be. Almost every noble having affairs, yet they only pick on the one who is less popular, not have enough wealth or status. In this case Igraine having affair with the highest man of all - the King - plus she isn't even noble, it's so easy for everyone to hate her and isolate her. People in Felluah aren't as nice as they seem to be either :(

Yet perhaps a little hint through Igraine and Nox's meeting, they keep saying about his mother. And the old volume when Orthez invited Igraine to Felluah, she always looked at Jules and Nox's mother (Lady Asrealt) too. Seems like they were close, I wonder what happened between them.
By the way I feel that no one is paying mush attention to what igraine once said:

hahaha!!!!! I just somehow feel really nice that Nox said it right to her face. Well, I kind of don't like her because she abandoned Arthur (poor Arthur). Well, I agree hat this is the era where marriage doesn't mean love, but love is still love isn't it? like Arthur said, she did not even say the word 'love' to Arthur before she left him... but well, I am a AxO biased so... (laugh)

Til this point we just don't have enough info about what exactly she did, so the chance is 50-50 right. Maybe she had no better way, maybe she was greedy. Let's wait and see then!
But either way, Arthur and Orthez are just so well matched that Igraine's really out of the equation lol
