ReplyDeleteBut anyways--does anyone think that maybe Orthez did know that Nox was under Arthur and did go to Felluah for him? Or she could have gone to Felluah to at least see Nox every now and then at least she could see him, but came all the way to Felluah for Arthur, I'm sure she sees him as a big asset to her. Their close age and stuff.
And does anyone else think that maybe Jules and Arthur may (suspicious) or may not know (exactly what happened at Tessa)the degree of relation that Nox and Orthez have towards each other. Its possible how the two react (Orthez and Nox) gives away slight hints or doubts to Arthur and Jules.
E.G (examples)
when Jules lend out the book that Nox searched so hard for and was the reason why Orthez and Nox met. Jules said its precious...
And Orthez replied with "I know". You see Jules face I feel like he might have his suspicion--despite Orthez adding something after that. She also to me looks like she had a face of longing or remembrance.
And then with Arthur, when he came back to his wife at night when Nox had just arrived
roughly something like...
Arthur: I heard you met Nox when he was at Tessa
Orthez agrees, and Arthur said that Nox said she was a beauty and such, wherein Orthez says: Such empty words.
Arthur: That is what I said
And while this happened his back was facing Orthez--and we can see at some form that Arthur has grown attach to Orthez. Maybe he didnt show his face because he might be making a expression that hints to jealousy--who knows.
And in this chapter, when Nox approached the carriage to me I felt like Nox was looking at Orthez and maybe with slight longing.Or maybe wonder why she came there. And the way Arthur tilted his head, to me it was like: I'm so over this (Nox) like somehow he is showing to him that Orthez is his.
I might have remembered things wrong tho--despite that fact that I have reread this series over and over again.
I might also just be seeing things and/or over analyzing

I don't remember Orthez ever telling Arthur that she met Nox before, unless you're talking about anything after chapter 45.
DeleteIt's implied that Orthez originally came to Felluah because of Nox. Somewhere within the first four chapters, she says "I came so far away from home, because of one man." When her maid/friend said "It must be nice to be the Duke's daughter, because you can get any marriage you would like.", Orthez replies with "It's not always like that." She couldn't marry Nox because his status was not high enough. Lady Asrealt was also wondering why Orthez came to Felluah when she could have become the princess (this was after Nox arrived).
I don't know Orthez's true intentions though. She says she'll be faithful to Arthur, but in earlier chapters she has said that a perfect love is a love affair that only God and the lovers know of. One that is pure and eternal.
I'm not sure what chapter it was, but it was when Nox recently came back-- I think when she was tearing her pillow and Arthur saw her. Arthur tells Orthez that Nox had said they had met at Tessa and she was beautiful and something along those lines.

Yeah, but I have this strong sense that she fortified her feelings for Nox because she could not be with him because of status. So she opted for Arthur who she may or may not know is his ward (?) And settles for being close enough to Nox than not seeing him period.
Ikr, my impression when she was talking to him about loyalty was like. I have nowhere else to go--this is the grave I dug for myself and I will see it through. Okay, that is dark, what I really mean is, asking about loyalty was her way of giving up on Nox because she knows the risk.
But then again I also have this other idea that she asked about that (BTW did he say they would be loyal to each other?) because if she knows Nox is one of his knight, with regards of a perfect love is a love affair, maybe she wanted that. A love affair between her and Nox the closest to getting what she cannot have, love. But at the same time my first impression about the love affair scene was maybe she was warning or teasing Arthur (regarding him and Igraine). And showing her immense knowledge.
But do you think that Jules and Arthur has some suspicion about Orthez and Nox. Or knows, because my other idea is Nox mentioned something about his adventure in Tessa to Jules and/or Arthur. Or just Jules and Jules reported or whatever to Arthur.
But I feel like Arthur may knows something esp in this chap, maybe I really am over analyzing things.
Sorry if I'm confusing I have so many ideas.
Last one, on this chap what was your intake when Arthur and Ingraine share a quick glance for a bit and then Arthur looked away. Do you think he has moved on?
I don't think that otheze chose to marry Arthur in order just to have a poetic affair with nox.
DeleteRegarding her personality, I think orthez is more a logical and calculating person than a naive, romantic girl. She even taught Arthur (and probably herself too) that it's impossible to be married for love if your partner is from a different social classement.
I think it's more like "timing" that she chose to marry Arthur.
First, Paris proposed to her and she clearly hated him. Considering their social classement, I think she couldn't refuse him without a good reason (like oh, I hate you. So I won't marry you) or delay her reply for too long, else it could damage a relation between her parents and the king.
So her best solution is to marry someone else. That's why her marriage happened in a hurry which mentioned in the first chapter how the whole process happened in a wink.
I think nox is just part of a reason which got her interested in felluah. I mean if orthez was blindly in love with nox and wanted to have an affair with him. She shouldn't bother herself in checking Arthur at the party or investigating his background and relation connection. She could just marry him without knowing him at all.
So I think it's all calculating for her marriage to Arthur. Nox and the book are just a sidestory for her but not a major reason.
I think orthez asked Arthur to be faithful to each other simply because she's too logic. I mean what she really wanted is "love" , to be loved and to be in love. However, it seemed to be too greedy. That's why being "loyal" is more practical and reasonable.
Plus, Orthez is also a pride woman, so she couldn't accept her husband having a mistress...or even a lover who is more beautiful than her.
I just reread the past chapters, I remember it more clearly now.
DeleteWe still don't know if she still has feelings for Nox, or her true motivations I agree in part with what the other Anon said about Orthez being logical and calculating. As for loyalty, Orthez is a very prideful woman who cares about her image. She's definitely going to try and bear him a child, she said so herself. I don't think she mentioned loyalty to warn Arthur about Igraine, she knows he will not go back to her. He told Orthez not to be faithful to him in Vol 2. Ch 2, but that might change. She mentions it a couple times after, but he doesn't give her an answer.
Jules might have some suspicion because of the book incident you mentioned earlier, but I don't think that Arthur pieced anything together. He did mention how he was worried that Orthez would be swept off her feet by Nox, but hasn't shown any concern since then.
I think that Arthur is still hurt by Igraine, and still has some lingering feelings, but it's at a point where he will not come back to her. He's still angry at what she did. He's starting to move on; he's growing affection for Orthez, and is becoming a little possessive of her, "You are my lady. Mine."
Don't worry about asking too many questions, I like answering and discussing them :). You're not confusing either, don't worry ^^

I really don't understand why he didn't sleep with her? Since they both accepted the inevitability of having children for bloodline purposes.

I (also) think you are right about her being calculated, but i dont know why but I cant shake off the feeling that she is--I'm not sure if this is the right word-- Desperate to be with Arthur because as far as her logic concludes she has a higher chance being in love or happy with Arthur in a way that she can manage. And you're right about being prideful, but I think that pride maybe stems from insecurity, which is the fact that she has everything handed down to her in a silver platter with a golden spoon, bare with me.
By that I mean despite having everything, her comprehension towards having it all is still lacking, she should be grateful but cant find the heart to, I think that is why she is all-so-poker-faced. I also think Arthur is right, when he said she was looking for something she could not obtain--love. I dont know maybe it's just me.
I also dont think she hates Paris, she did state that if she had married Paris she would live such a comfortable life, and then proceeded on asking Arthur where he stands in succession to the throne. And we saw from an extra chapter than Paris sees Orthez in a different light compared to Arthur and that other dude, forgot his name. She did say she wanted to live a luxurious life since she only have one life, but I think the reason why she doesnt want to marry Paris, is the way he sees her. He sees her as this perfect being, with Arthur she could be improper and it gives her a form of refreshing-ness that Paris possibly could not provide, plus if she is queen that would make her act the way she does in front of Paris 24/7, which is "work" for Orthez when she is at parties, which she does for Arthur's sake, she knows her place.
Nox maybe just happened to cross her path when she met a dead-end or a fork on her path. And maybe that was why she became interested in Fellulah.

Yeah, so if Orthez really cares about image, imagine her married to Paris, she might snap one day and start acting the way she did when she met Arthur and how she acts till now. And once that image Paris had of her fades, what then, move on to the next possible mistress? I'm sure she is aware of the very messy lineage of a king. Avoidance-approach.
Yeah, I feel like Jules has his suspicions. Hey, as far as I know Arthur could have done that to try and rile her up who knows? Mhmmm, but it could have just been playful teasing. They just knew each other after marriage so they didnt really have any lingering emotions towards each other, so getting whoo-ed is an easy thing. OR maybe he knows she met Nox, maybe she really want him to fight for their honor she could do that ribbon thing, idk. Arthur and Orthez dont really know each other, I'm sure if Nox came earlier they could have struck a deal like: I will bear your child but let me keep this man, who knows?
If his hurt, he cares. Meaning there are still lingering emotions--meaning, he might still possibly like or love her, but his faltering because female MC is awesome. I kinda like his possessive-ness, maybe he really does know!
Sorry I keep pushing the possibility he knows something, I want to see more of jealous Arthur, because Orthez is just straigh-forward, have you seen the kiss that went sideways for her, haha.

Okay last, I was rereading (yet again) and remember that part when Orthez says something like

The one when she took a step back and Nox took a step forward, and she ripped the pillow and--Yeah well that part.
WHAT IF, that whole scene actually implied that time when Nox delivered the book to Felluah to be given to Jules and told Orthez it's no longer with him, and said that he will wait for her the next day to see if she would come. What if one of the two did come but the other didnt. (revised thought)
The original thought was: Orthez came but Nox never did, or perhaps he did but he hid from her, who knows.
Thus Orthez practiced the moment when they would meet again, wherein she will take a step back because she got stood up. That idea can be tampered with to fit any slight alteration to the possible happening of that day.
And just now I thought what if Orthez and Nox did meet the day after Nox told Orthez the book wasnt with him and he actually did give her a kiss, as he had sworn if she would come the next day. So she practiced in her mind how she would react when she sees him, maybe she has fallen for Arthur or her logic wont let her cheat, so the "took a step back" was a sign for Nox, that she was no longer interested in him and their prior-- whatever it is-- relationship should end at that time, because after all she is married to Arthur.

Oh My God. I'm flying, i'm speechless. I really like this chapter because we can see clearly that when orthez makes a move (of course what i mean is not about action but actually her heart too), Arthur receive her. So many scene implying that they're not just simply two people with broken heart try to move on with the environment but they fill and replace it with their couple. Seems like i want to know you better because i want this marriage is about politic but happiness. Slowly but surely they open their heart with one another.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the stair scene was not just a step back in action but everything. Your decision, action, and of course heart. Orthez can't step back and looking for nox, it same goes with arthur. Arthur, when he annoyed because othez sleep with her snort sound, but thinking it's her wife and it's orthez, he just simply smile. He kiss back his wife because he knows orthez actually likes him, and only orthez can do the act bold in front of all the people. So he just simply follow her action.
Woah i can't wait for the next chapter. Finally.. and thank you for the update.

ReplyDeleteIt's like... the fated couple - The Lovers .. and those who fell out of their love - The Leftovers. Hehe. Kidding aside, Orthez and Arthur are two person who's made for each other. They both must've never thought they'll be this compatible to each other. haha. Or maybe because both have had love/like that did not bear fruit. They are both their 2nd love, huh? hihi! ^^
Anyway I wanna say to them, if ever they are both real,
"You both are perfect for each other!".
I felt bad for the other two but... ArthurxOrthez is just perfect match for each other for me to not wish any other possibilities of partnership aside from them. It just won't do. Aside from their blooming love this manhwa will be left with stories of those who's love will have to wither. :
